Hello everyone and welcome back to school for Term 3.
Did you all enjoy your two week break? I hope you are all refreshed and ready to tackle Term 3. I had an amazing time in the South Island of New Zealand. The scenery is beautiful – especially the snow and the mountains. I kept my self busy snowboarding, bungy jumping, sight seeing and eating lots of the scrumptious food New Zealand has to offer. Have a look at some of the photos from the trip.
This term will be busy, busy, busy as it is chocked full of loads of exciting activities, not just for the Kindy / Pre class but for the whole school. Here is a run down of what is happening in our class and the school during Term 3.
Week 5 is National Science week – the Kindy / Pre Class will be presenting some of the work they have done in Science this term during their online lesson. So K/PP home tutors remember to have the camera handy during online science lessons leading up to week 5. The teachers will also be getting into science week by taking part in a Brain Break Morning Tea to share science ideas and chat about how they are promoting science in their class. Keep those photos coming in from any science activities you do at home for our science page on the web.
The Kindy/Pre class are fantastic readers and love reading and listening to stories, so everyone should have a lot of fun during Book Week in Week 6! Start thinking about your favourite story character because at the end of Week 6 there is a special assembly and you need to dress up as your favourite book character. Miss Ward has organised lots of super prizes for those who take part. More information to come about Book Week during the K/PP on line lessons, stay tuned …
The highlight of Term 3 is Sports Camp!!! Teachers are busy planning and organising a week to keep K-7 students busy, active and having fun. Hopefully everyone can make it to sports camp to see their school friends and teachers. K/PP home tutors – K/PP have a special day program that runs from about 9am – 3pm. You will need to organise accommodation in town for the week and I would advise to book early as September is a busy time in Kalgoorlie and accommodation can get scarce. Swimming lessons will be running again this year at the Oasis. More information for Sports Camp will be out soon.
What is happening in the Kindy /Pre class this term …
This term we are starting off the term with a trip to Outerspace! The K/PP group will be busy learning about the wonders of Space for the first few weeks of this term. Following the Outerspace topic, the class comes back down to earth to learn about the country that we live in – Australia and we will finish the term with two weeks learning about the Environment.
During online lessons this Term the K/PP group will be exploring online reading, having fun in science by playing with light and shadows and on Thursdays we will all be tapping our feet and dancing our way through music sessions. Remember to keep those cameras nearby during air lessons and send in those photos Home Tutors so your teacher and class can see what great stuff is going on out there during online lessons.
